Kastle V7 Video Training

Kastle’s video documentation team has made 11 video modules that cover the various aspects for the new Kastle Axiom V7 hardware platform.  This content is available to all partners.  In the past content had been provided to the Partner POC.  In an effort to ensure the content reaches the field technicians we are distributing the content to named staff members.  If you have not gotten access or other team members need access please contact Ken.

Currently we are using SharePoint to provide access to the content.  Kastle expects to shift to the Kastle’s internal Learning Management System (OWL) in the third quarter of this year.

Please contact Ken Manning (571 244 4694, kmanning@kastle.com) if you have questions or would like to get access.

Kastle Technician App

Kastle has created a Technician App that runs on IOS devices (iPhone and iPad).  The Technician app includes components for V7 installer and Field Test tool.  There have been updates to the app.  To take advantage of the updates you will have to upgrade to version 4.2 or higher.  The attached document outline the steps to download the new version.  Once you have upgraded to the latest version, the app will update like other apps on your iPhone / iPad.

V7 Flash Cards

The New V7 system uses a Micro SD flash card to provide initialization instructions for the ROCK64 and instructions for the processor to connect to the Kastle AWS Cloud.  Very shortly you will see the SD card shipped with the ROCK64.  The Micro SD Card will have “V7” on the label.  The “V7” label is an indication that the card has been preformatted with all the necessary files and configuration data for a DHCP connection to the Kastle AWS servers.  Prior to starting the ROCK64 the “Secret Key” for the specific building and EP will need to be downloaded (or sent via email) and copied to the root directory of the SD Card.  Please make sure your PC has a working reader or USB compatible device that can read and write to Micro SD cards.   Please work with your Kastle Project Manager if they are sending you a Micro SD Card or “Secret Key”.

The initial instructions in the file will help you determine the state of the flash card.  Once all ROCK64 devices come with the preformatted card, you will be about to start at item #3 and then skip to item #7.   The instructions in items 7, 8, 9 and 10 related to the  “Secret -Key” and ROCK64 startup procedures.

New Documentation on Field Test Tool

The Kastle Field Test Tool is a valuable tool in the Kastle installer tool kit.  You can see real time output, test existing, new or replaced hardware.

Once you have installed a device (i.e. Axiom or KZDM Door Module) you will need to do basic testing to make sure that each component works

Card reader – reads cards and data is correct

REX – when you pass under the REX does the door unlock as it should

Does the lock change from locked to unlocked and vise versa based on the card read or the REX related actions

Once you have confirmed all objects are work as designed, the Field Test Tool (FTT) checklist will need to be run.  The FTT records the person name who ran the test, date and time of the test.   Kastle does not consider an install complete until the FTT has been run and the test results meet specifications.

The FTT Testing process should be less than 5 minutes per door.

The new document outline the tests required for both V6 and V7 environments.
