Getting Trained
To support the move to the New Kastle V7 hardware platform, Kastle has created 11 Video training Modules available via Kastle’s Learning Management System “OWL”. Kastle is providing access to the new V7 Hardware (video and documentation) content on an individual technician basis. Have you look at the new content? Do you or a team member want to get access to the new materials? Join the group by contacting Ken Manning (571-244-4694 or kmanning@kastle.com).
About 75 technicians already have access. They were sent an email with instructions. The email included instructions on how to access the content and how to download the Kastle Presence App.
We want to hear back from you after you have reviewed the content. Ken is happy to take any feedback on the materials.
We have the V6 Documentation and training materials available via SharePoint. Please let Ken know if you need access to any of the V6 or V7 training materials or documentation.
Documentation Library
We have set up documentation libraries for both the V6 and V7 hardware platforms. Version 7 hardware design has made the documentation process much simpler. The head end is a single unit that is comprised of the Rock 64 (SBC) mounted on the HUB board with a power supply and a battery charger, all enclosed in a 12“ X 12” x 5” metal box. The other component is the Axiom Controller. This controller has all the functions for the old KZDM, KXT, KZSRDR and KZ4I/O boards and more. The documentation library’s main elements are a document for the HUB another for the AXIOM Controller and about 15 electrical diagrams.
V6 Documentation
Most of the current V6 platform documentation was create between 2010. There have not been many changes / updates in that hardware since that time. The original documentation was created as an all-inclusive document. The single document was a complete summary of the head end and the related boards (i.e. V6T, KSDM, KXT, KZSRDR, KZ4IO, BLE daughterboard etc.).
The documents were very complete in their coverage of the various components. The downside of the original content was the volume of information. If you were looking for information on how to add a BLE Daughterboard to an existing KZDM board, you had to go through a lot of other content to the specific data on this topic. This was less than ideal when trying to read from a smart phone or tablet.
Ken and the Enterprise technical team have broken the documents down to smaller topics. We now have documents on each of the components.
V6T & V6U Head Units
The V6T and V6U head end units interacted with each component in the same way. For example, a KZDM door module is wired the same way for both the V6U and V6T manager board. The move to individual documentation modules eliminated a lot of repetitive data. The V6 document modules include wiring diagrams for most of the common situations (i.e. KZDM with a Strike, Mag lock, Cylinder lock and Mortis locks). We did not reorder page numbers so many documents will not start on Page 1. In some cases, the documents had one or more pages of information not needed in most situations. There may be sections with gaps in the page numbers (i.e. page 10 followed by page 12.).
Check-In and Check-Out Process
Kastle has a technician Check-in and Check-out process. The process is a simple phone call, to identify who you are, which building you will be in and for how long. The process is the same for Kastle Staff or Partners. During the early phase of an install job the Check-in / Check-out process is mostly a tracking mechanism. Once the Head end EP and locks begin to come online, the checking process allows the technician to use their Kastle card to open doors within the secured space.
To check-in call the Kastle Service Dispatch team at 703-247-0203 (Monday – Friday 7 AM to 4 PM). The Kastle Support Center number (see attachment) can be used on weekends, holidays or other time that the Service Dispatch Desk is not answering.
You will need to provide your name, the Kastle Building Number you are working in (i.e. DC0557), the customer name, nature of the visit (installation or Service) and the duration that you expect to be onsite. Please wait for the person to confirm that you are checked–in.
When you leave for the day please call to check-out.
Attached is the document with phone numbers to call to complete the Check-in / Check-out process.
Axiom Controller
Many partner technicians currently have access to the Kastle V7 documentation library. The library is in SharePoint.
If you want access to this content, please contact Ken Manning (kmanning@kastle.com or 571-244-4694).
One of the big changes to the V7 platform is the Axiom module. This module is a multifunction board.

Internal View
It replaces V6 boards like the KZDM, KZSRDR, KXT and KZ4IO. The programming can be done by Kastle staff and the Feld Technician only need to use the Technician Tool to Capture the Bar code data to associate a physical device with the logical definitions. The Board can be completely programmed in the Field via the Technician App from start to finish.
