THE SITUATION
National Harbor, today, includes a fullservice marina; a convention center; six hotels; 35 restaurants; 49 retail stores; 2,500 residential units and 500,000 square feet of Class-A office space. Additionally, National Harbor hosts events throughout the year that includes Cirque Du Soleil, movie screenings and concerts. National Harbor was built and opened by The Peterson Companies in 2008 as the Washington, D.C. area’s premiere $2.1 billion mixed-use waterfront community.

THE SOLUTION
In consideration of securing such a large investment, The Peterson Companies sought a way to secure a diverse group of tenants and visitors. They found their solution with Kastle System’s access control and fire system monitoring. This solution was in place as soon as their facility was wired, protecting the original 2008 contractors and the eight million annual visitors who currently come to National Harbor. Kastle Systems operations centers were available to turn off alarms and manage alerts during the around-theclock constructions.

THE RESULT
Presently, Kastle System’s access control system offers the convenience of utilizing a single card across areas and buildings. This allows the community-wide management team to access all necessary spaces; the tenants to have secure entry into only their own areas; and unauthorized visitors to be kept out.
